A word/image mark, also known as a combination mark, is a logo that consists of both a word and an image. The combination of a word and an image is an effective way to strengthen the branding of a company or organisation and create a distinctive visual identity.
In graphic design, and logo design in particular, word/image marks can be used to visually communicate the core message of a company or organisation. The word in the mark can, for example, contain the name of the company or a short slogan, while the image can give a graphic indication of the company's business area, values or vision.
In web design, word/image marks can be used to create visually appealing and memorable branding on a website. For example, the logo can be placed in the header area to make it easy for visitors to associate the website with the brand. By using a combination brand, web designers can also adjust the colour scheme and design of the website to match the logo, creating unified branding and a consistent visual identity.
